Concordia sophomore shines at conference meet

Concordia Academy sophomore Barnabas Preble closed out the cross country season recently by racing in the conference and section meets. Among his accomplishments in the final two weeks of the season was a runner-up performance at conference.

Preble finished second at the Tri-Metro Conference championships on Oct. 18 at Battle Creek Regional Park in St. Paul. He completed the 5,000-meter course in 18 minutes, 9.08 seconds and finished behind only Fridley junior Nicolas Fite.

Preble was also the top Beacon at the Section 4A state qualifier on Oct. 27, also at Battle Creek. His time at sections was 19 minutes, 1.23 seconds.

As a team, Concordia Academy finished fifth at the conference meet and 12th at sections.

On the girls’ side, senior Elissa Boll was the first Beacon across the finish line at both conference and sections. In the team standings, the Beacons were fourth at conference and 12th at sections.
