Union Gospel Mission benefits from volunteer Christy Vasquez

Christy Vasquez, of Inver Grove Heights, helped distribute food at the Union Gospel Mission for the fourth time. Vasquez said she heard about the organization from a friend who told her about the Thanksgiving basket registration because at the time, she was in need.

Vasquez started volunteering by doing Thanksgiving registration and distribution, and she now also helps serve dinners once or twice a month at the men’s campus.

Homelessness has been an issue Vasquez has been passionate about for many years.

“What this organization does is not only help someone with a meal, but they try to find a solution for people to move towards a future. They let them know that they do matter,” Vasquez says, adding the organization is making a difference in people’s lives. This is something she wanted to be part of.
