42nd annual Huff n’ Puff Days swings into town


file photo • During the 2017 Lake Elmo Huff n’ Puff weekend, the Lake Elmo Fire Department hosted an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast complete with sausage patties, orange juice and coffee. A pancake breakfast will be offered again this year on Sunday, Aug. 12, from 8 a.m. to noon at Fire Station No. 1, across from Lions Park.

Lake Elmo is the place to be Aug. 9 to 12 for the annual Huff n’ Puff Days, which includes a four-day softball tournament, medallion hunt, pancake breakfast, children’s games and more.

Free shuttles offered at Washington County Fair

For the past eight years or so, the Lake Elmo Rotary Club has provided a free shuttle service at the Washington County Fair for those with mobility issues.

New business opening in former Stargate space


Marjorie Otto/Review • Grocery & Nepali Kitchen, a family restaurant/grocery store, will soon open for business in the former location of Stargate Bar & Nightclub, near the corner of Rice Street and Larpenteur Avenue in Maplewood. The building has been vacant since the city closed the nightclub in February 2017 after a chaotic shooting at the bar that injured five people.

Semitrailer strikes teenage bicyclist in Lake Elmo

A semitrailer ran into a 14-year-old girl who was bicycling in Lake Elmo the morning of July 9. 

Shortly after the accident, the girl was transported to an area hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.
